❤️ For families
We warmly invite families of children with PUS3 and GAND syndrome to join us at the Gene2Cure Translational Gene Therapy Conference 2026.
This meeting is designed not only for scientists and clinicians, but also for families, because you are at the center of everything we do.
During the conference, you will have the opportunity to:
- meet the researchers and doctors working on these programs
- better understand how gene therapy is being developed
- connect with other families on a similar journey
- and be part of shaping the future of these therapies
This is a unique opportunity to see how research is progressing and how we are working to move treatments closer to clinical trials.
We truly hope you can join us in Barcelona.

Travel Information
By Train
For those arriving by train, Barcelona is easily accessible from all major European cities via high-speed and international rail connections. We recommend visiting Trainline (https://www.thetrainline.com/) for comprehensive information on train routes, schedules, and ticket bookings across Europe.
By Car
Travelers choosing to drive to the conference can enter Barcelona through various border crossings with neighboring countries such as France, Italy, Austria, or Andorra, depending on their route. Alternatively, you may rent a car from one of the many international and local car rental agencies operating in Spain.
Spain’s highway network is modern, well-maintained, and clearly signposted. For detailed driving directions, toll information, and route planning, we recommend consulting resources such as ViaMichelin or the Real Automóvil Club de España (RACE).
By Plane
If you plan to arrive by plane, the primary international gateway is Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN), located approximately 15 km from the city center. It is one of Southern Europe’s major international hubs, offering extensive direct connections to destinations across Europe and worldwide.
Barcelona-El Prat Airport is served by a wide range of airlines, including members of Star Alliance, SkyTeam, and oneworld, as well as low-cost carriers such as Vueling, easyJet, and Ryanair.
Airport Transfers to Barcelona
From Barcelona-El Prat Airport, the city center is easily accessible by:
- Taxi
- Airport shuttle bus (Aerobús)
- Metro and train services
- Private transfer or shuttle services
Numerous private shuttle and transfer providers also operate between Barcelona Airport, the city, and surrounding regions.
Travel Documents
To enter Spain, you must hold a valid travel document. EU/EEA citizens do not necessarily need a passport, a valid national identity card is sufficient for entry. Participants from non-EU/EEA countries must hold a valid passport and, where required, a visa or residence permit, unless otherwise provided by law or international agreement.
To check whether you require a visa to enter Spain, please consult the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs website and select your country of residence. Participants who require a visa to enter Spain may request a letter of invitation for visa application purposes (please reach out to spela.mirosevic@gene2cure.com). Please note that this letter is issued exclusively to support visa arrangements and does not imply any financial or other support. Information on visa requirements and the addresses of Spanish embassies and consulates is available on the website of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs: https://www.exteriores.gob.es If you are applying for a visa through a Spanish embassy or consulate, please inform us so that we can provide you with the required documentation. Participants who already hold a valid Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) or a valid residence permit issued by another Schengen country do not need to obtain an additional visa to enter Spain.
Every day, children are born with rare genetic disorders for which no treatment exists.
Not because solutions are impossible, but because these diseases are often too rare to attract attention, funding, or coordinated development.
For families, this means waiting.
Waiting without answers. Waiting without options.
The Gene2Cure Translational Gene Therapy Summit 2026 in Barcelona
During the Gene2Cure Translational Gene Therapy Summit 2026, our focus will be on our two programs: PUS3 syndrome and GAND syndrome. Researchers working on these two diseases will talk about the biology of the disease, but also about the development of gene therapy.
Today, gene therapy has the potential to treat diseases that were once considered untreatable.
But for ultra-rare conditions, development is still slow, fragmented, and often dependent on individual efforts.
You are welcome to join the conference or supporting it with a donation. Your support will help us:
- organize and accelerate real therapy programs
- build collaborations that reduce duplication and delays
- and move promising treatments closer to clinical trials
Because for children with rare diseases, time is critical. And we believe progress happens faster when people work together. Sharing knowledge, being transparent about challenges and focusing on what matters most – getting treatments to patients.
If you believe that no disease is too rare to matter,
we invite you to be part of this work.
