Javier García is a Founding Partner at Columbus Venture Partners. He spent 25 years at Eli Lilly and Company, where he held various executive positions in Business Development and Information Systems. Since 2009, he worked on venture capital investment, particularly in private companies within the biopharmaceutical, life sciences, and medtech sectors. He was the founder and CEO of Viralgen from 2017 to 2023 and chairman of the board until April 2025.
Javier is also Founder and Secretary of Fundación Columbus, a foundation dedicated to developing advanced therapies for ultra-rare diseases. He is on the board of trustees of Elpida Therapeutics in California, the National Alliance for Hispanic Health and the Health Foundation of the Americas, both based in Washington, D.C., and is also a trustee of the Fundación Querer.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics (Statistics and Operations Research) from the Complutense University of Madrid and earned an MBA from ICADE (Spain). In 2023, he was awarded the Tambor de Oro (Golden Drum), the highest civic honor granted by the City of San Sebastián.
